Now the site is official -sticky-
This is the official family-sanctioned GURU tribute website. It is our hope and desire that fans will enhance the site with positive* messages, tributes, videos, creative memorials, etc. After such a massive world-wide outpouring of sympathy and support, we wanted a forum that would showcase the myriad of diverse and heartfelt expressions already received and those to come.
Please note that this is also the site for official information on the forthcoming trust fund for GURUs son, KC as well as other family announcements. In GURU’s words – peace and love. Thank you, The Elam Family

GURU was and still is the real inspiration in music, the Gangstarr albums, his own debutes Jazzmatazz. Im from Hungary, in my youth age I could not understand the story but his voice, the setup of the music with premier was an outstanding listening experience. Today, altough I’m rarely listening to this style anymore, I understand the meaning and the message behind his performace, and I consider his words guidelines, timeless advice to every generation! His particular style and fashion is inimitable, may be Justin Nicholas-Elam Ruff could take on this!
For me GURU is the loss of this decade! Thank you for this tribute, rest in piece GURU!

BLESSINGS FROM UK ALL DAY!!! YA BOY BLITZ…
No words can fairly describe the pain I felt and still feel since hearing of Guru’s death. I cannot begin to imagine what his family and closest friends are going through right now.
On a personal note, I would like to share with you a story about the tremendous impact Guru has had on me.
At the age of 16, I had started to feel discouraged about many aspects of my life: was doing poorly in class, had practically no friends (at a significant time for a young insecure man), and worse, my health (which i would rather not discuss in details) was starting to deteriorate. One day, after coming back from school, after feeling beat down by everything around me, I went to the only source of comfort I knew of at that time; music. And on that day, I listened for the first time to a track that had been laying around for a while and whose title for some reason, had appealed to me.
That song was “Moment Of Truth” by GangStarr.
After hearing the few notes and lyrics, I can now admit I cried. I felt the lyrics, many times, speaking directly to my situation. Made me feel Guru could almost understand where I was coming from, since I was myself at a turning point in my life.
For that amazing musical healing, I can never cease to be grateful. Thank you GURU!!! Wherever you are big bro, i hope you can hear this; Thank you for giving me clear points of direction at a crucial and desperate time!
You were one my favorite MCs ever!!! And often reminded me why I love Hip Hop so much!
R.I.P.
GOD BLESS Guru and family
Thank you for putting this site up. He would have loved the artwork!
My condolences to the Elam family, to DJ Premier and to Solar. We have lost a true legend of hip hop far too early. But we can never lose the legacy of Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal.
Gangstarr is one of my greatest influences on staying real in the hip hop culture. ONE LOVE KEITH..
RIP Guru! Your influence and presence will never die
G-Bless 2 the Elam family!
Great Job Tineke..
RIP Guru… Your music will live as long as lemonade remains a popular drink! #respect
